Infrared Module Circuit for IR Module

The Infrared Module that I chose was a TruOpto part HRM138BB5100 available from Rapid (PN: 55-0902).

I chose it for operating at 3.3V. The circuit is ridiculously simple, a total of 4 components and a small bit of veroboard. I followed the manufacturers recommendations:

IR-detector

IRmodule-2small

IR Module: HRM138BB5100
Capacitor: 47 μF
R1: 4.7 kΩ
R2: 100 Ω

Many designs on the net don’t use the resistors or capacitor. R1 is important for good switching and some noise immunity. R2 and the capacitor help regulate supply to the detector. The VCC was wired to the Olimexino-85 3.3V VCC pin 8,

GND was connected to pin 7,
The Output pin was wired directly to Pin 5 (PB4)
